Increased quality requirements, longer product service life, higher demands on the reliability of high-quality electronic circuits as well as progressive miniaturization and ever new areas of application for the circuits can often only be made possible by the use of protective coatings to prevent premature failure of the assembly.
In addition to the classic low-viscosity protective coatings, which are applied in thin layers, in certain cases highly viscous media must also be processed, which require the application of thicker layers. In many cases, different coating materials or potting materials had to be used for this. This made their use in production more difficult, as different processes had to be used to apply the different materials. However, new coating valves and application processes, which have been precisely matched to the properties of the newly developed coating materials, enable these media to be applied selectively and in different layer thicknesses depending on the requirements.
Nordson Asymtek’s Select-Coat process eliminates the need for cost-intensive masking and reworking of areas that must not come into contact with the medium.
