In addition to the sophisticated software, the system is characterised above all by its innovative hardware. The high-resolution autofocus camera with a very large „field of view“ captures the entire reel and enabling even the smallest barcodes to be read in a very large inspection area.
The reel thickness can be recorded using a height sensor, which is important for the subsequent storage of the materials. A prerequisite for the fully automated labelling of the reels with a unique ID is the unique AI software, which recognises the webs and free areas for the optimal placement of the uniqe real/part-codes.
The camera, height sensor and printer can be integrated into a cell in which then are recording of the component reels and comparing this with the ERP system; the printing and placement of the unique ID are carried out automatically and placed in an optimised manner. In conjunction with the smartLoad and the Pike trolleys, up to 120 reels can be loaded and unloaded automatically. An integrated X-ray component counter can record the actual stock levels if required.

Whether as a compact table-top receiving station (from our partner CompControl), with conveyor feed to the smartSCab storage cabinet, or as a fully integrated high-volume cell with smartSLoad – smartTec offers maximum flexibility.
In the table-top version, the reel is placed on the station and positioned beneath the camera. The high-resolution AI autofocus camera with a wide field of view reliably captures even the smallest barcodes and plain text.
This is complemented by a height sensor that precisely measures the reel thickness. All information is automatically documented and transferred directly to the ERP system.
In the fully automated smartInScan cell, the entire goods receipt process is carried out fully automatically: reels are loaded via the smartSLoad, then scanned, optionally counted using X-ray technology, marked with a unique ID, recorded in the ERP system, and finally loaded onto Pike trolleys in an optimised position.
This cell is fully integrated into the smartProLog environment – from goods receipt and storage in the smartSCab to connection with dry storage cabinets and production.
